Registered Nurses (RNs) & Nurse Practitioners (NPs)

The College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL) is the regulatory body for all Registered Nurses (RNs) and Nurse Practitioners (NPs) in the Province.

To obtain a license to practice as a RN or NP in Newfoundland and Labrador begins with a formal application to the college: Registration | CRNNL

Newfoundland and Labrador has been working to reduce barriers for nurses to practice in our province with the creation of expediated pathways to work as a full-time nurse for provincial, national and international applicants as of June 5, 2023.

Internationally trained nurses (IEN’s) who were educated and who are currently licensed in good standing in USA, UK, Ireland, India, Philippines, Australia, New Zealand, Nigeria or Hong Kong are eligible to apply for registration in Newfoundland and Labrador using the designated countries pathway.

Those who were educated outside and who are not currently licensed in good standing in the countries identified above are eligible to apply for registration using the general registration pathway.

Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs)

The College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CLPNNL) is the regulatory licensing body for licensed practical nurses (LPNs) in the Province.
